Cumberland Gospel Nashville is an expansion of one of the most exciting small church music programs in Nashville. The Tusculum Cumberland Presbyterian Church, first established in 1852 on the corner of Nolensville Pike and Tusculum Road in South East Nashville, has served our community in many different areas. We are currently located a short distance from our birthplace at 477 McMurray Drive. That outreach continues today through Tusculum Elementary, Prison Fellowship Ministries Angel Tree, 30 Hour Famine, Ronald McDonald House, Living Water International, and serving up some of the finest fish and hush puppies for the past 27 years at our annual community Fish Fry! There are many other ministries we are involved in through Our United Outreach (OUO) with our sister churches. We are now led to use one of the most exciting ministries we have, to again reach into the community is a unique way: music.
Our music program, over the past thirty years, has touched the community in several ways. Some of those efforts were:
- Writing, staging and performance of “The Passion Play, His Promise, Our Hope” for 20 consecutive years drawing over 12,000 people to hear the message of Easter.
- Fund raising concerts for the homeless, Faith Family Medical Clinic, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Living Water International on our campus performing with Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Choir, Christ Church Choir, Renaissance Choir from Bethel University, and others.
- Performances of Cotton Patch Gospel, Checkmate-Whose Turn Is It?, and Godspell.
The music program currently consists of a full gospel praise choir, several soloists and instrumentalists.
Our next step of faith became offering a monthly affordable, quality, family oriented music venue for our community and the Nashville area. Concerts are held in our theater the second Thursday of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
Cumberland Gospel Nashville is designed to book all genres of gospel: contemporary, bluegrass, black, southern, and maybe a version yet discovered. Concerts will range from solo musicians to full choir. All presentations will have two things in common – a testimony and good music! Our format is similar to Austin City Limits - no fancy set design, but the best in digital sound and video.
Put together a group from work, church, or family and friends and join us! Check out our schedule. Tickets are available on this site and at the door. No reserved seats, so show up early for a good seat!
